Extra fiber may reduce stomach pain and constipation, dietitian says

Pediatric stomach pain often is linked to constipation, which can come from eating too little dietary fiber, writes registered dietitian Beth Wallace Smith, who recommends children get five servings of fruits and vegetables daily and that half of grains be whole grains. She writes that parents should gradually increase the amount of fiber their children eat, and that one tip for choosing higher-fiber foods is to check ingredient labels to make sure they have at least 3 grams per serving.
