Interventional Procedures

Treating complex digestive disorders with minimally invasive endoscopic techniques

Interventional endoscopy is the most innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approach, using state-of-the-art technology and techniques to treat patients with complex gastrointestinal disorders.

Conditions endoscopically diagnosed and treated include:

  • Premalignant and early GI cancers
  • Benign & malignant strictures and obstructions
  • Pancreatic and biliary diseases, cancers and stones
  • Pancreatic pseudocyst and wall-off necrosis drainage
  • Ablative therapy for premalignant and malignant cancers
  • Anti-reflux procedures
  • Barrett’s esophagus
  • Zenker’s diverticulum
  • Obesity (incisionless) bariatric procedures, even after prior bariatric surgery
  • GI fistulae, leaks, strictures (including post-surgery)
  • General GI illnesses (IBD, IBS, hemorrhoids, liver illness, etc.)

Procedures performed (but not limited to)

Ablative Therapies

  • Cryotherapy for Barrett’s esophagus
  • Radiofrequency ablation (esophageal, biliary, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors)
  • PDT (Photodynamic Therapy) for cholangiocarcinoma

Pancreatic and Biliary Endoscopy

  • Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with fine-needle aspiration or biopsy of pancreatic or liver masses or cysts
  • EUS-guided liver biopsy
  • Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • ERCP in altered anatomy
  • Ampullectomy
  • Extracorporal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) for large pancreatic stones

Therapeutic Endoscopy

  • Stent placement (esophageal, gastric, duodenal, colonic)
  • Endoscopic incision-less fundoplication (TIF)
  • Anti-Reflux Mucosectomy (ARMS)
  • Endoflip (endoluminal functional lumen imaging)
  • Esophageal Manometry, pH-impedance and Bravo pH testing

Therapeutic Endosonography

  • EUS-guided celiac plexus neurolysis and block
  • EUS-guided fiducial placement
  • EUS-guided glue and coils injection
  • EUS-guided biliary, pancreatic and gallbladder drainage
  • EUS-directed transGastric ERCP (EDGE)
  • EUS-guided transmural pseudocyst and walled-off necrosis drainage, pancreatic necrosectomy

Enteral Nutrition

  • PEG, PEG-J and PEJ (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy, Gastrojejunostomy, Jejunostomy) placement/adjustment/removal

Obesity Procedures

  • Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG)
  • Endoscopic balloon placement
  • Aspire tube placement
  • Transoral gastric Outlet Reduction (TORE) who have regained weight after bariatric surgery

Third Space Endoscopy

  • Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) or Full-Thickness Resection (EFTR)
  • Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for achalasia and other esophageal motility disorders
  • Gastric POEM for pyloric stenosis and gastroparesis
  • Zenker’s diverticulum therapy (Z-POEM and septotomy)
