Histotechnologist PRN needed at Pathology Lab

Job Responsibilities:

As a Histotechnologist PRN, you will perform stat and routine clinical laboratory testing in technical discipline areas in which individual and department are licensed under the direction of a laboratory supervisor, manager or director. You will perform duties consistent with written procedures and regulatory requirements and apply theoretical concepts of laboratory medicine using independent judgement to ensure timely and accurate results. The Histotechnologist supports the department in achieving department goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, healthy work environment, and integration of intra and inter-departmental activities.

Job Duties:

  • Complete all safety training requirements as needed
  • Availability to provide coverage for staff time off
  • Produce a moderate volume of slides without risk to patient identification
  • Ability to execute any other duties required by the laboratory supervisory staff
  • Knowledge of anatomy, pathology and medical terminology to perform job functions
  • Perform instrument maintenance/QC and documents all actions
  • Maintain adequate supplies for histology laboratory
  • Troubleshoot stains as needed
  • Ability to create adequate histologic sections with proper leveling between each section applied onto glass slide
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of work meets standards

Qualifications

  • Experienced technologist preferred
  • FL DOH Clinical Laboratory Personnel (Histology) license required
  • 1-3 years of previous experience in clinical laboratory setting

Additional Information:

  • You should have availability to work during disasters
  • The ability to frequently stand, bend, reach, squat, kneel, move, and lift patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Duties will include, but are not limited to; embedding, microtomy, staining, cytoprep, and IHC
