Javier Gomez, MD

Dr. Javier Gomez is a board-certified gastroenterologist with expertise in general gastrointestinal conditions, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and screening and surveillance colonoscopy, with an additional focus on the care of older adults with complex digestive diseases.

He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at Temple University, followed by an advanced fellowship in Motility and Neurogastroenterology. After training, he spent nearly 15 years as a Partner at Wichita Falls Gastroenterology Associates in Texas – the largest gastroenterology practice in the Texoma region – where he built a reputation for a clear approach patients trust: they leave with a diagnosis, not a long list of maybes.

Dr. Gomez is a published contributor to his field, co-authoring two chapters in the reference textbook GI Motility Testing: A Laboratory and Office Handbook (SLACK Inc.), and a chapter on Gastrointestinal Motility and Functional Disorders for ACP Medicine. His research on reflux, achalasia, and gastroparesis has been presented at Digestive Disease Week and the American College of Gastroenterology, and earned him the Young Investigator Award at the international Neurogastroenterology and Motility Meeting.

Born in Mexico City, Mexico, into a Spanish immigrant family, Dr. Gomez sees patients fluently in Spanish and English. He is known for being unhurried, direct, and easy to understand – a physician who explains what is actually happening, what the options are, and what he would recommend for his own family.
