We’re thrilled to announce that our Port Charlotte location, Charlotte Harbor Gastroenterology, will open full-time on June 1!
The clinic, staffed by board-certified gastroenterologist Dr. Carl Colton and his team, provides comprehensive gastrointestinal and liver services for the community.
Dr. Colton graduated from Johns Hopkins University, then went on to earn his medical degree at The State University of New York and his internal medicine residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University.
Because Dr. Colton desired to serve his country, he then entered active duty service for four years as a physician in the United States Air Force at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota during the Iraq Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield. During his service Dr. Colton was Chief of Internal Medicine, caring for the pilots of the long range nuclear B1B bombers and officers manning the long range nuclear missile silos. He achieved the rank of Major and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and the National Defense Service Medal.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force Dr. Colton returned to University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University to complete a fellowship in the subspecialty of Gastroenterology. He spent most of his gastroenterology career in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Marie, are excited about living in Florida, and Dr. Colton considers it a privilege to provide comprehensive care for his patients as a physician at Florida Digestive Health Specialists.
